Lori Laudien

Lori E. Laudien is a seasoned public policy strategist with over two decades of experience in government relations, crisis communications and project finance.

Prior to joining Ziebart Consulting, LLC as a partner in November 2009, Laudien worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the firm’s Washington, DC and New York City offices.  During her five-year tenure at Goldman, she held a variety of positions including: Chief of Staff to the President and Co-COO; Vice President in the Government Relations Group; and Vice President in the Alternative Energy Investing Group (within the Special Situations Group “SSG” of the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities Division), a group focused on investing the firm's capital in privately held renewable and alternative energy companies.  Laudien also provided strategic federal public policy insights and executive recruitment guidance to SSG portfolio companies in which the firm had investments.

Before joining Goldman Sachs, Laudien founded Keystone Market Strategies, LLC, where she specialized in crisis management, federal and state government advocacy and project development with a focus on energy, tax and telecommunications.  Her clients included a multinational telecommunications company, national public affairs firm, and natural gas pipeline company.

Prior to starting her own firm, Laudien had a six-year tenure with El Paso Corporation, North America’s largest natural gas pipeline company and a leading provider of natural gas services.  She started in the company’s Washington, DC office in 1997 as a Manager and quickly rose to serve as Vice President of Global Government Affairs in 2002.  At El Paso, Laudien was responsible for formulating all legislative, regulatory and communications strategies and tactics to advance company priorities in the areas of energy, taxes, environment, regulatory oversight and business unit project development.  Ms. Laudien also served as the senior company representative in Washington for all high-profile public policy issues.

Prior to El Paso, Laudien served as tax counsel on the Senate Finance Committee and as a tax associate at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P.  She also worked as a tax assistant in the National Tax Office of KPMG Peat Marwick in the Practice, Procedure and Controversy group, and as a legislative assistant to then Congressman Craig Thomas (WY).

Laudien graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor of arts in politics and history from Mount Holyoke College. She received her juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.  Laudien is a member of the New Hampshire bar and District of Columbia bar.  She also is a member of the Business-Government Relations Council.
